Course overview
Skills introduced included team-building and initiative games, introduction to stove use, water filtration, equipment planning, food planning, thermoregulation and backpacking. Specific activities included a half day trip to Mountain Equipment Co-op for an introduction to personal back-country hiking equipment including care, maintenance and gear selection for maintaining body temperature and protection from injury a half-day hike, October 1st to provide students with an opportunity to test their skill, judgement and understanding on an outdoor group excursion and an overnight trip to Quaite Valley October 9th - 10th prior to the CSS Fall Break.
